The Peribaltic Group
Field Symposium on the Geological History of the Baltic Sea in Lithuania
September 8-12, 1996, Palanga, Lithuania

This meeting was organized by Albertas Bitinas and others from the Geological Survey of Lithuania. Participants were introduced to the Quaternary Geology of Lithuania with a focus on the geological history of the Baltic Sea coastal area. The trip began in Vilnius and traversed the country to the coast, with stops at the core archives and several field sites. Two paper and poster sessions provided research results from North America and Europe. The symposium volume contains 34 abstracts, many of which present new and largely inaccessible data from the Baltic States. On another field trip the participants observed large coastal dunes and Littorina Sea deposits.
